Recently, my husband told me that my art has given him better insight into me and how my mind works. At first, I didn't know how to take his comment, but as I thought about it, I think I understood. Some artist paint precise and controlled, while others are whimsical, detailed, or really out there. Me, I'm all over the place. I'm easy going, yet volatile, messy, childlike, emotional, spiritual.... I think my work does reflect all those things that make up Cissy Primos Prewitt. So, I guess I understand what he was saying after all.
I must have been in a crusty mood when I painted this. I don't sleep well at night, and many of my art ideas come to me around 2:00 am. I wanted to incorporate some kind of architectural hardware into a painting. So, I went to an antique/flee market store that sold this kind of items and found boxes of old keyhole plates. (I don't know the official name of them.) It was exactly what I had hoped to find.
I wanted this painting to look like the plate, crusty, rusty and old. After it was finished, I didn't know if I liked the results, but after a day or two of looking at it, I think I do. At least I accomplished what I set out to do.
Hi Cissy, just had to leave a comment after seeing your name on Kathy's blog,I too, am Cissy.....good old southern name, originally from Kentucky. Enjoyed seeing your art work and blog.
